Gold Coast – July – 2010

The August Cup- Sunshine Coast [AU]

Thank you for a great week on the Sunshine Coast, well organised as usual, the courses could have been tougher (not)! Jeff and Danny enjoyed their first trip with WAGA and are looking forward to future events.

It was a great week and thoroughly enjoyed it even though I played bad golf. I would also like to take this opportunity to put forward a couple of suggestions.

With an aggregate stableford event over the 3 days, I believe there should also be daily competition. A poor score on day 1 limits your chances to get back in the competition! A nearest to the pin on all par 3 holes is also an idea that has merit.

Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur

Unfortunately Robbie and I are now back in Australia after a great two weeks in Malaysia. We enjoyed the golf tour very much as did Ken & Pam, as far as I am concerned it went off better than Phuket.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the mix of partners and in particular the last day when the men played together and so did the women, I think it is the men’s chauvinistic attitude about women and golf, but Robbie and Pam really enjoyed playing with the women, Ken and I both received an earful about how wonderful it was to play with the women with no pressure from husbands telling them what to do.

After KL we spent a week in Langkawi and that also was most enjoyable and relaxing. Thanks for a most enjoyable tour

Finally we arrived home wednesday morning, and not surprisingly it is much colder here than in KL and I am freezing. Can’t wait to leave for Spain! Maybe we will come to visit you guys at the Costa del Sol or see you later this year in Palm Springs.

Thank you for a wonderful week in Kuala Lumpur ! As always the WAGA event was perfectly organised and the golf courses were superb. We had a great time and lots of fun and so had our friends, the WAGA-Rookies Petra, Timo and Bernd.

South America

Just a note to congratulate you on a beautifully-organised trip, it was very well done and a pleasure to be with you. Thanks.

Uruguay was really interesting, especially Punta del Este – which is the Gold Coast in miniature. It is very high on my list of places to return to. US$500k will buy you a two-storey mansion about 100m from the beach or on the edge of a great-looking golf course.

The whole South American experience was terrific – absolutely no complaints, just compliments.

Still do not have a decision on Como as the workload has not been fully determined, but I will let you know as soon as possible.

Vietnam

Thank you for a great time in Hanoi; we thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the trip.
It came at a good time for us as we had had 3 weddings in the previous 13 months and the emotional toll was greater than anticipated. We also had our youngest daughter moving to the UK for 2 years so a break with a difference was the perfect tonic.

The hotel was excellent value and really comfortable. The city and countryside of Hanoi was most interesting and we are lucky to see an emerging nation, and one that has a lot to be proud of, in this stage of its development. I was at a loose end in 1966 and was interested in joining the effort to stop the Domino Theory but I missed the ballot. We visited Saigon in 1985 and I was so glad I wasn’t involved. To see Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum and the hammer and sickle everywhere was thought provoking.

The golf was fantastic. Not my performance, but the courses, the company and the whole setting. Playing in different environments is good and despite the early starts, the bus ride makes for fun and a good opportunity to see the countryside. As always, a great feature of your tours is the organisation. There is so little for us to do in terms of logistics, that it makes for a very comfortable and relaxing time. Whilst ever the non-golfers are having a good time, the golfers don’t have a conscience ! I hope you are enjoying your work as you are providing a lot of people with a really good time.

South Africa

I guess you must be home by now and relaxing after a busy month. Just wanted to thank you for one of the best vacations I have ever had. Everything was superb. My brother will be back for more trips, and will bring his wife. The girls will be back again I’m sure, as they all had a great time. I think Kim and Marion are considering the Sunshine Coast.

Just the other day, Dee was telling someone about the trip and said, ” I don’t golf but I’m going to travel with the golfer’s from now on, because they know how to travel”. They say word of mouth is the best advertisement, so your getting a lot of that around here. At least 15 people have told me they want to go with me to South Africa next year. I’ll have a nice big group for you sooner or later. Anyway, Thanks Again for a great vacation.

Vietnam

We are writing this email as a follow up to our great trip to Vietnam with your WAGA group.

We both had a fabulous time up there — golfing in the first week around Hanoi, and then the trip south and the final days in Ho Chi Minh. The organisation and the content of the whole venture were terrific and I think this is reflected in everyone’s comments as we all parted company last Thursday.

Finally, we would once again say thanks to you both for a memorable and happy trip, and we look forward to taking another at some time in the future (South America sounds very promising!!!!!!).
