WAGA and the “big wet”

Christmas and New Year have come and gone. Here in Queensland, we are in the middle of the “big wet”. December gave us 28inches of rain and now we have had 15 inches this month with more forecast. WAGA is 97km from Brisbane and so we are fine, unlike many of our fellow Australians. Currently 18 are dead and 15 missing….

So we smile and cry at the same time. Great things being done by local people and it makes you wonder at the amazing human spirit. For those who have sent messages of well being, thank you!

Numerous charities have been set up but if you would like, you can send a cheque to Armlass and than money will be deposited with St George Bank and you will receive a receipt.

On a more positive note, golf will go on in 2011.

Buenos Aires, Feb/Mar

Bordeaux May

Sun City July

Cairns Sep

Lake Taupo Oct/Nov

Please come and join us in one of these events.

A computer problem

Hi,

WAGA have noticed that a Windows upgrade today has created a problem when trying to open either the PDF file for a tournament or the Registration form. Speaking to the technical people, they tell me the only way to open either the file or registration form, you must:

Right click on either file/form and then” Save Target As” and when that is complete, click on Save.

After that, click on open and both form or file will be available.

WAGA apologize for this problem but it is one that we cannot overcome, created by Windows……..sorry

2011 Golfing holidays

Well Vietnam is done and dusted for WAGA. It was a good trip, Furama Hotel wonderful and the Montgomerie Links course a great challenge. Congratulations to our winners, Fred and Robbie. Photographs of this event can be found under Photos and then go to last album, “Scenes from Vietnam”.

It looks like WAGA will have over 20% of the group attending the Buenos Aires event in February/March. Bordeaux is still fielding a steady number of bookings but we do have space. Sun City has exceeded all expectations and WAGA found that requests exceeded bookings by 25%. Sun City and the Cabanas were able to accept our new bookings and have accommodated all new applications. To be safe, WAGA have accepted some more rooms so if you have friends/fellow golfers who were thinking about the trip, please tell them that WAGA can accept new bookings.

Cairns – staying at the Novotel Palm Beach and playing Paradise Palms and Sea Temple – first fortnight of September.

Lake Taupo – Arriving Sunday 30th after the World Rugby Cup, golfing Kinloch, Wairakei and Centennial. Accommodation is the 5 star Hilton Hotel overlooking Lk. Taupo. Your departure date from the WAGA event is 3rd November. The great race, Melbourne Cup, will be celebrated on 1/11/11 with drinks and nibbles.

Brochures for Cairns and Lake Taupo will be out later this month.

Enjoy your golf.
