The death of a friend

Sadly, I must announce the death of Joan Symons on Sunday, 11th January at 7pm. She had been ill for a little time.

Les and Joan Symons(Les is ex Qantas) joined myself, Derek Gasgoine and Arch Titchkosky and our then wives in 1994 to run the IAC in Sydney for IAGA. The event was a huge success and it developed into WAGA in 1999 and the tournaments continue.

Joan was a willing helper, friend, confidante to all who knew her. Like many of you, I have fond memories of events in Wales, Paris, Mobile and Canberra where Joan had married Les.

Her loss leaves me very sad, not able to say “goodbye” to a dear, dear friend. Memories of Joan make me smile whilst tears flow at her sudden departure. I hope that you will join me in sharing condolences with Les and daughter Sally.
